We focus on excellence in three key areas: listen to what you need, make you look good, and make you feel good. Come see for yourself the dramatic difference of excellence.
In 1946 the first Hudson’s Barber Shop was opened in Savannah, Georgia. Its founder was Hezekiah Hudson Sr. His goal was to create a business where he could work with his children daily. This was inspired by an example he had seen while working for a drugstore. An artist by nature, he now had to venture into providing something that people needed. His choice of occupation was directed by the advice of his late father, “If you provide something that people need, you will never go hungry.”
Although his father died when he was 15 years old, he left him two things, a store and a pair of hair clippers. Both of these gifts would impact Hezekiah’s career decision.

Head Barber Stylist, James, when asked what's his favorite haircut to create:
“There is a style that has endured name changes, crossed ethnicities, and genders, survived decades, and served as the mark of artistic achievement for barbers. Today it’s called the “Fade.” In the 80’s and 90’s, it was called the “Fade Away.” In the 60’s and 70’s it was called “The English” or “T-hound” and several other variations of the two names.
The style is simply a feathered transition from an area of thick hair to thin or bald. The skill is in the ability or dexterity to seamlessly taper the hair so that the transition can’t be detected. This is equal to an artist etching with a pencil or using pastels to create a portrait. The look is a combination of youth and maturity. The bald or thinner hair suggests energy and the darker, thicker hair suggests confidence and conservation. This is why it has lasted, why it is the most requested, and the most favorite.”
